Using Technology to Get Our Students Speaking

Summary:

In this talk Russell will present some simple web 2.0 tools that we can use to get our students speaking both in and outside of the class. Web 2.0 offers us tools that students and teachers can use to record themselves speaking and then at a click of a button share the recordings by email or place in Moodle, a blog or a website. This is a great way to set up speaking tasks and activities with your students. Based on work being carried out at the University of Warwick, teachers can learn these tools in minute and make immediate use of his ideas. Russell will explain in the talk why he calls the presentation the "Connected Classroom". Whether you are a technophile or a technophobe this is a talk not to be missed.

Our Speaker’s Bio:

Russell Stannard runs the popular http://www.teachertrainingvideos.com/ website that offers free step by step help videos to show teachers how to use technology. The site had over a quarter of a million users in 2011, nearly all ELT teachers. Russell won the British Council ELTons technology award, the Times Higher technology Innovation award and the Univeristy of Westminster award for Excellence in Teaching and Learning. He writes a regular column in the ET professional called "Webwatcher" and is currenly a lecturer at the University of Warwick where he teaches on the MA in TESOL.

Na skupu će između ostalih govoriti: Ken Wilson, Luke Meddings, Colin Granger, Marisa Constantinides, Tony O’Brien, a skupu će se obratiti i predstavnici Ministarstva prosvete, kao i Filološkog fakulteta u Beogradu.
